Florida Park High School Choir Shines at Talent Africa

The talented Florida Park High School choir recently achieved a remarkable feat by winning the diamond award at Talent Africa. This remarkable accomplishment has propelled them to the national stage, showcasing their exceptional skills and musical prowess.

The journey to this prestigious recognition began when the choir participated in the Randfontein Arts and Culture Association (Raca) Eisteddfod on October 5. During this event, they discovered they had the opportunity to compete as a solo, duet, or quartet. In a bold and creative decision, they opted to participate as a quartet, setting the stage for their extraordinary journey.

Their outstanding performance at the Eisteddfod earned them a coveted Diamond Certificate, signifying their exceptional achievement of 95% and above. This remarkable feat opened the door for them to participate in Talent Africa, a national-level competition that attracts top talents from across the country.

Talent Africa took place on October 8 in Sasolburg, where the Florida Park High School Choir once again delivered an exceptional performance, earning them another Diamond Certificate. Their excellence was further recognized when they were awarded the first prize for the Best Senior Group.

This latest triumph has not only brought them well-deserved recognition but has also presented an incredible opportunity. Their remarkable achievement has qualified them to compete internationally, and they are gearing up to represent their school and country on a global stage. Their sights are set on a competition in New York scheduled for June and July next year.

However, embarking on this international journey requires financial support, as they need funds to cover the expenses for six children and two accompanying educators. The choir actively seeks assistance to make their dream of competing in America a reality. To generate the necessary funds, they have initiated a raffle and created a BackaBuddy account for people to contribute to their cause. Additionally, they are planning a fundraising concert with celebrity performers, although the date for this event is yet to be confirmed.

The Florida Park High School Choir is reaching out to the community, asking for their support to help these talented children achieve their dreams and make their mark on the global stage.
