The Democratic Alliance (DA) has called on the government to take immediate action to address the Avian flu outbreak in the country. Noko Masipa, the party’s shadow agriculture minister, emphasised the importance of providing assistance to poultry farmers and businesses affected by the outbreak as reported by Eyewitness News.
The DA has formally written to Agriculture Minister Thoko Didiza, urging her to support the sector by facilitating the procurement and registration of effective Avian influenza vaccines. Reports indicate that approximately two million birds have been culled due to the outbreak, prompting Namibia to ban poultry imports, including live poultry, birds, and related products.
