The incident, which resulted in the loss of 16 lives in July 2021, took a significant turn when witnesses refused to testify, citing fear as the reason, as per Eyewitness News. However, Provincial Police Commissioner Elias Mawela expressed confidence in the police’s initial investigation, stating they are committed to addressing any identified deficiencies and gaps.

He affirmed their determination to close these gaps and proceed with the case, reiterating their belief that the arrested individuals are the rightful suspects.
