Panday and his supposed accomplices face asset seizure

Assets worth R165 million belonging to Thoshan Panday, his ex-wife, former police commissioner Lieutenant-General Mmamonnye Ngobeni, and seven others were seized by the National Prosecuting Authority’s Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) and Investigating Directorate (ID) on Monday as reported by The Witness.

The move comes after the NPA and ID were granted a provisional restraint order against them in March 2023 in connection with corruption and fraud during the 2010 Fifa Soccer World Cup.

The court order, executed by the high court’s curator appointed, has frozen all parties’ bank accounts.
