Crawford College Teacher Faces Deregistration Amid SA’s Racial Tensions

There has been a shocking case of racism in Crawford College as a teacher faces deregistration. The 82-year-old teacher, dismissed for writing racist terms on a whiteboard, faces further consequences as the Gauteng Education Department seeks to bar her from ever teaching again. According to eNCA, MEC Matome Chiloane supports her dismissal and plans to report her to the SA Council for Educators for deregistration.

The teacher’s actions caused outrage as she allegedly made insensitive remarks, claiming that using a racial slur couldn’t hurt pupils as they were not affected by apartheid. The school is also considering legal measures against the teacher for her unacceptable behaviour.
