The community of Region A, encompassing Midrand, Diepsloot, Ivory Park, and Fourways, faces a crisis following the departure of its former regional director. Abigail Ndlovu, a respected figure who retired in December last year, has left a significant void that the City is struggling to fill. Residents and councillors feel the impact, describing the situation as rudderless and turbulent.

Madeleine Hicklin, a former ward councillor and political head in Midrand, lamented the region’s decline, noting its once flagship status. Ward 132 councillor Annette Deppe echoed these sentiments, highlighting Ndlovu’s inspirational leadership and ability to unite people.

According to Deppe, Ndlovu’s departure has left Midrand directionless, with communication from City entities becoming irregular. Despite challenges, councillors remain committed to finding solutions for their constituents. They believe Region A can regain its status as a proactive and well-run community with exemplary leadership.
