The City of Johannesburg has been undertaking a database maintenance exercise

The City of Johannesburg has been undertaking a database maintenance exercise from 4th to 21st March 2023 to improve end-to-end business processing and customer satisfaction. During this period, some services may have experienced system downtime. However, the City has been working hard to minimise customer impact.

According to the City of Johannesburg, services like applying for new service connections (water and electricity), meter tests, pensioner rebates, and opening new accounts were unavailable during downtime. In addition, customers may have experienced temporary difficulties accessing their invoices and uploading meter readings through the e-Joburg platform.

Nonetheless, services like accessing statements and making payments on the system at walk-in centres or third-party platforms were still available.
The City apologises for any inconvenience caused and encourages customers to contact their customer service centres for more information.
