EMPD Officers Arrest Thembisa Suspect After High-Speed Chase
On May 9, in Thembisa, officers from the EMPD (Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department) apprehended a 38-year-old male suspect on various charges.
According to Marie Mashishi, the media liaison officer for EMPD, the officers were conducting routine patrols when they noticed a white Nissan LDV (light delivery vehicle) speeding down the road.
“When the officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver accelerated away,” said Mashishi.
The vehicle engaged in unsafe overtaking manoeuvres during a high-speed chase. Eventually, the officers managed to corner the vehicle on Spoonbill Street, Seotlwane Section.
During the interrogation of the driver, it was discovered that he did not possess a valid driver’s license. Furthermore, he resorted to insulting law enforcement officials.
