As the Springboks gear up for their final Rugby Championship clash of 2025, Rassie Erasmus has pulled the trigger on four strategic changes to the match-day 23 a signal that South Africa is going all-in for back-to-back titles.

It’s All On The Line At Twickenham

South Africa’s showdown with Argentina at London’s Twickenham Stadium is more than just another Test match it’s a virtual final. While Los Pumas are technically out of the title race, Erasmus knows better than to take them lightly.

“They’ve beaten the All Blacks, Wallabies and even the British & Irish Lions this season,” the Springbok coach reminded the media. “This is going to be a hard grind.”

With that in mind, Erasmus has made a few key adjustments to ensure the Boks are battle-ready for the 3pm SA time kickoff.

Four Key Players Return To The Fold

Loosehead prop Ox Nche returns to the starting line-up after sitting out the Durban fixture with a minor niggle. On the bench, three experienced players are back: scrumhalf Grant Williams, centre Jesse Kriel and hooker Bongi Mbonambi.

“These guys could have played last week if we really needed them,” said Erasmus, “but Boan Venter and Morne van den Berg did a great job. Now it’s about fine-tuning combinations for this final push.”

The decision balances veteran grit with youthful energy something Erasmus believes will be key in neutralising a feisty Argentine side.

Siya Kolisi Nears Historic Century

Captain Siya Kolisi will lead the team out for his 98th Test, inching closer to the 100-cap milestone. While the celebration will likely come on tour, Kolisi remains focused on the task at hand.

Eben Etzebeth, meanwhile, is set for his 138th cap, locking down the engine room alongside rising star Ruan Nortje. The combination offers a mix of raw power and fresh perspective.

Sacha And Ethan Steady The Backline

At flyhalf, the gifted Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu retains his spot after continuing to impress with both ball-in-hand brilliance and boot accuracy. On the wing, Ethan Hooker earns another start, adding youthful flair and defensive steel.

With Cheslin Kolbe and Damian Willemse patrolling the backfield, South Africa has a trio capable of punishing even the slightest Argentine errors.

The Bench Is Built For Impact

The replacements bench is bursting with firepower. Kwagga Smith and RG Snyman bring muscle and mobility, while Manie Libbok adds another playmaking option should things tighten up.

And let’s not overlook Jesse Kriel, back in the mix and hungry to leave a mark.

One Win Away From Making History

Should the Springboks win on Saturday, they will clinch the Rugby Championship title for a second consecutive year a feat they’ve never achieved before.

For Erasmus and his squad, history is calling. And with a finely tuned mix of experience and new energy, they may just be the ones to answer.
