An armed gang has targeted a primary school in rural Limpopo, making off with 60 tablets and a laptop valued at R163,000 in a brazen early morning robbery.
According to Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the incident occurred at a school in Lemondokop village, which falls under the Sekgosese policing area in the Mopani District.
The Attack
In the early hours of Tuesday, 24 February 2026, at approximately 12:40 am, a male security officer was on duty at the school when he was confronted and overpowered by four unknown male suspects.
The suspects were reportedly armed with firearms and wore balaclavas to conceal their identities.
The Theft
The gang forced entry by breaking down a door and then prised open a safe where the electronic devices were stored. They stole 60 tablets and one laptop before fleeing.
After the robbery, the suspects tied up the security officer and escaped in a getaway vehicle. The officer later managed to free himself and reported the matter to police.
