Jub Jub to appear in Germiston court on Wednesday after Edenvale kidnapping and shooting arrest
Media personality Molemo Maarohanye, popularly known as Jub Jub, is set to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 17 June 2026 after his arrest over an alleged kidnapping and shooting involving an e-hailing driver in Edenvale.
Arrest and charges
Gauteng police said the 45-year-old was arrested on Sunday evening, June 14, 2026 on charges of kidnapping, unlawful discharge of a firearm and defeating the ends of justice.
What police say happened
According to Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, the incident allegedly occurred at about 7:30am when an e-hailing driver dropped a female passenger at a residence in Edenvale. Sibeko said Maarohanye allegedly confronted the driver, accusing him of being involved with his girlfriend, and forced the e-hailing driver into his vehicle, preventing him from leaving.
Sibeko added that during the incident the Uyajola 9/9 host on Moja Love allegedly discharged a firearm in the direction of the driver. The e-hailing driver reportedly escaped unharmed and drove to a nearby police station to report the matter. Police arrested the suspect shortly after the incident.
Investigation and next steps
Police said investigations are continuing. Although an initial court appearance had been expected on Monday, police later confirmed the matter was moved and that the suspect will now appear before the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 17 June 2026, Captain Sibeko said.
Past allegations
The report notes that the TV host faced serious allegations in 2023 when he was charged with rape, assault and attempted murder. The National Prosecuting Authority withdrew those charges in 2024 after discussions between prosecutors and his legal team.
