Eskom has confirmed a planned, seven-hour electricity interruption that will affect parts of Tsakane on Wednesday, 23 September.

Who will be affected and when

The utility said the outage will affect Tsakane Ext 9, Tsakane Ext 15, Rockville and Vergenoeg from 09:00 to 16:00 on Wednesday, 23 September.

Why the interruption is happening

Eskom said the interruption is part of planned maintenance work on the distribution network. The maintenance is intended to allow technical teams to carry out essential work on the distribution power lines serving the named suburbs.

Safety warning and uncertainty

The utility urged affected residents to exercise caution during the outage, advising customers to treat all electrical appliances and connections as live at all times. Eskom explained that power could be restored unexpectedly or fluctuate during maintenance work, creating a risk for anyone who assumes appliances are safe to handle.

Eskom also warned that the planned maintenance could be delayed or cancelled if unforeseen circumstances arise, and included a disclaimer that the interruption may not proceed as communicated.

How to get updates or report problems

Eskom provided several channels for customers who want to report problems or check the status of their electricity supply:

  • Download the MyEskom Customer self-help app for real-time updates.
  • Send a WhatsApp message to 0860037566 for assistance.
  • Use the USSD code *120*37566# to access services without data or airtime.
  • Access Eskom’s Alfred chatbot at Alfred.Eskom.co.za/chatroom.
  • For bill-related queries, use csonline.Eskom.co.za between 08:00 and 16:00 on weekdays.

Apology and request for cooperation

The power utility apologised for the inconvenience the outage may cause households and businesses in the affected areas and thanked customers in advance for their cooperation during the maintenance window.
