Klopp’s Long-Standing Support for Hout Bay United

Klopp, a patron of Hout Bay United FC, has been involved with the club since 2017, helping to raise funds for the non-profit organisation. The club serves underprivileged communities in Hout Bay, an area known for its stark divide between wealth and poverty.

Despite his commitments to charity work, Klopp made time to reconnect with Springbok captain Siya Kolisi, a close friend he met in Cape Town.

In a social media post last November, Klopp revealed how a chance encounter with Kolisi in Cape Town changed his view on rugby.

“It was very funny. We were in a restaurant in Camps Bay, Cape Town. I was there with friends. As a German guy, we are not so much into rugby,” Klopp explained.

“But my friend is French, he’s much more into rugby. He came back from the restaurant and said, ‘My God! Siya Kolisi is sitting right there!’”

Since then, Klopp has forged a strong friendship with Kolisi and even shifted his support from New Zealand’s All Blacks to the Springboks.
