Kaleo set to rock South Africa with their first-ever shows in 2027
In a thrilling announcement for rock fans across the nation, Icelandic powerhouse band Kaleo will be making their much-anticipated South African debut as part of their Way Down We Go Tour in February 2027.
The Grammy-nominated group, known for their soulful blues-rock sound and electrifying performances, will take to the stage at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens in Cape Town on Thursday, 4th February, before heading to the lively Marks Park in Johannesburg on Saturday, 6th February.
The Johannesburg performance is set to be an unforgettable experience, featuring not only the headliners but also special guests Kongos and Ross Learmonth, alongside an array of support acts yet to be announced for Cape Town.
This tour marks a momentous occasion, celebrating the tenth anniversary of their breakthrough debut album, A/B, which catapulted them into the international spotlight.
Formed in 2012 in Mosfellsbær, a picturesque suburb of Reykjavík, Kaleo has since evolved into one of the most captivating forces in rock music.
Fronted by the powerful and unmistakable voice of Jökull Júlíusson (JJ), the band comprising drummer David Antonsson, bassist Daniel Kristjansson, and guitarist Rubin Pollock perfectly blends blues-rock muscle, folk introspection, and arena-ready hooks, appealing to a diverse audience.
With over 6 billion global streams and more than 70 international Gold, Platinum, and Diamond certifications to their credit, their impact on the music industry is undeniable.
Their anthemic single “Way Down We Go” has become a cultural phenomenon, spawning millions of TikTok videos and featuring prominently in major television series like Yellowstone and Grey’s Anatomy, not to mention its inclusion in popular EA Sports franchises such as FIFA and Madden NFL.
The Way Down We Go Tour coincides with the release of the A/B 10th Anniversary Deluxe Edition in June 2026, which reintroduces the classics that first captivated audiences, while also reinforcing Kaleo’s vibrant journey through the music landscape.
Their live performances are lauded for their raw energy and emotional intensity, ensuring fans not only hear the music but feel it in their bones.
This monumental South African debut provides local fans with a unique opportunity to witness one of rock’s most compelling acts perform live. Tickets for the Cape Town show go on sale at 9AM on Wednesday, 14th October 2026, through Webtickets, with prices starting from R995 (excluding booking fees).
