“Tyla, Jozi Native, Clinches Grammy for ‘Water’ with Emotional Tribute to Her Mother

In a momentous achievement, Johannesburg-born singer Tyla secured a Grammy Award for her song, Water. EWN reports that the South African artist clinched the Best African Music Performance in the category’s inaugural year at the 66th Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles. The SA citizen faced formidable competition, with nominees including Burna Boy and Ayra Starr. Expressing her disbelief and gratitude, Tyla, now a Grammy winner at 22, acknowledged the transformative power of the past year.
