Meyersdal Residents Contribute Funds to Combat Illegal Dumping

Meyersdal residents have come together to address the issue of illegal dumping near the R59 offramp and Michelle Street. Over R20,000 was raised through resident donations to clean up and improve the area, which had been marred by unlawful dumping for years.

The residents, frustrated by the lack of response from government authorities, took matters into their own hands. They engaged contractors to remove the dumped waste and fill a large hole in the area used by squatters.

While the work is ongoing, it has significantly improved the entrance to Meyersdal. The residents’ efforts have showcased the power of community action in addressing local issues.
