Eskom announced Stage 2 and 4 load shedding for this week, with the power utility fluctuating between these two levels of blackouts. According to eNCA, the rotational power cuts are a response to the loss of generating units at both the Kendal and Tutuka power stations, which has resulted in significant capacity constraints.
Currently, the country is experiencing Stage 2 load shedding, which will last until 4 pm. After that, from 5 am daily, South Africans will have to endure the more severe Stage 4 load shedding, putting additional strain on households and businesses.
The situation has raised concerns about the stability of the power grid and the potential impact on the economy during this challenging period.
