Three people were killed in a car crash in Ekurhuleni

Three people were killed in a car crash in Ekurhuleni when a Volkswagen Golf collided with an oncoming Volkswagen Polo on Balfour Road. According to Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD), EMPD officers responded to an emergency call regarding the collision near the Leversburg filling station on Balfour Road, as reported by IOL.

At the scene, they found the two severely damaged hatchbacks in the centre of the roadway. The details about the crash remain unclear. But preliminary investigations suggest that as the Volkswagen Golf exited the filling station and entered the main roadway, it collided with the silver VW Polo, leading to the deaths of two men and one woman, all in their twenties.

The police have registered a culpable homicide case, and investigations are underway.
