Kaizer Chiefs has taken decisive action by suspending its captain, Itumeleng Khune, in the wake of allegations that he attended a training session under the influence of alcohol. On Thursday, the Soweto Giants Club announced that Khune would be stripped of his captaincy. The club, upholding high levels of professionalism, initiated an internal investigation following incidents involving Khune. The disciplinary processes temporarily separated Khune from the team until certain conditions were fulfilled. While the statement doesn’t specify the duration of the suspension, Khune is expected to be available for selection again next year, according to Jacaranda FM.
The committee overseeing the disciplinary procedures highlighted the actions to address Khune’s transgressions, including his removal from the club captaincy. Kaizer Chiefs stressed its commitment to professionalism and discipline, stating that corrective measures were applied to facilitate Khune’s personal growth and development. The club outlined that Khune would be required to attend and participate in programs to support his personal growth. Once Khune completes the necessary programs and meets the set expectations, he will be welcomed back into the team, reflecting the club’s approach to providing support during challenging periods.
