Security drive

In a festive spirit and as part of the Lyttelton Crime Stop (LCS) security drive, Santa is preparing his sleigh to bring joy, treats, and goodwill to the Lyttelton community. The security drive, spearheaded by LCS chairperson Stacey Spangenberg, is set to kick off in Selborne Avenue on Saturday, December 9, at 17:00. Santa will be cruising through the neighbourhood in a bakkie-drawn sleigh, extending the holiday cheer to residents between River Road, Botha Ave, Trichardt Road, and Clifton Ave.

Residents are encouraged to join the celebration by stepping out into the streets to share the festive joy. The LCS committee members have organised the drive with the support of local security companies, community services, and businesses in the area. Members can track Santa’s live location during the drive through the LCS WhatsApp communication channel.

The initiative is not only about spreading festive joy but also involves giving back to the community. The LCS committee has identified a local safe house, and the children there will be the beneficiaries of the drive. Spangenberg expressed gratitude for the donations from LCS members and local businesses that make such community initiatives possible.

While some streets may be inaccessible due to sinkholes affecting the road, all community members are invited to partake in this joyful tradition. Additionally, one fortunate family can win a R500 petrol voucher. As part of the treats distributed during the event, sweet packets will include a handwritten note on the back of the LCS flyer, redeemable from Stacey Spangenberg.
