Dr Nandipha Magudumana faces charges of murder, aiding and abetting, fraud, and violating the bodies of the deceased

Dr Nandipha Magudumana, Thabo Bester’s partner, appeared in Bloemfontein magistrate’s court on Thursday, as reported by SowetanLIVE. She faced charges of murder, aiding and abetting, fraud, and violating the bodies of the deceased. National police commissioner Gen Fanie Masemola confirmed these charges.

Tanzanian police arrested Magudumana and Bester on Friday, months after Bester escaped from Mangaung Prison. 24-hour security will monitor Bester at Kgosi Mampuru C-Max Prison in Pretoria, where “highly trained” officers will keep guard.

Justice and correctional services minister Lamola thanked the Tanzanian government for cooperating in capturing Bester and Magudumana. Lamola also thanked state agencies and public members who shared information leading to the detention of the two fugitives after an extensive search. He added that the police had made considerable progress, with several arrests.

Magudumana and Bester landed at Johannesburg’s Lanseria Airport on a specially chartered flight in the early hours of Thursday morning.
