Eastern Cape police probe execution-style killings of four in Walmer

Four people were shot dead in an apparent execution-style attack in Walmer, Eastern Cape, in the early hours of Monday, 29 June 2026. Police found two adult males and two adult females inside a shack at the Solomon Mahlangu Informal Settlement and have launched an investigation and manhunt for the suspects.

What police found at the scene

Police said they were called to a shack at Solomon Mahlangu Informal Settlement, Walmer, “at approximately 00:20 on Monday, 29 June 2026.” Upon arrival, officers discovered the bodies of two adult males and two adult females inside the dwelling.

According to police, “preliminary investigations indicate that one male and one female were found lying next to each other in the sitting room, while another male and female were found lying next to each other on a bed in the bedroom.”

All four victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds to their heads and were declared dead at the scene.

Investigation and appeal for information

Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said the “circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.” She added that “at this stage, it is unknown whether any items were taken from the premises. The motive for the killings remains unknown and no arrests have been made.”

Authorities are conducting a manhunt for the suspects and have appealed to the public for information that could assist the investigation.
