Update:

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has confirmed the discovery of another woman’s body in Dawn Park, Ekurhuleni, bringing the number of women’s bodies found in the district to nine over the past two months.

According to a statement shared by SAPS on Thursday, 17 September, the unidentified body was discovered earlier this morning. Police said the case will be added to the ongoing investigations into the deaths of women across Ekurhuleni.

Police team mobilised to investigate cases

SAPS said a multidisciplinary team of experts has already been mobilised to work on the cases and ensure that those responsible are brought before court.

Police have appealed to community members to share any information that could assist investigators.

Residents say they are living in fear

The latest discovery has also raised concern among residents in the area.

Residents in Villa Liza, Boksburg, said they were living in fear following the discovery of the body on Thursday morning, according to SABC News.

Preliminary investigations suggested that the woman may have been killed elsewhere before her body was found at the scene.

The woman has not yet been publicly identified.

As investigators continue working on the cases, SAPS is appealing to the public to come forward with information that could help establish what happened to the women whose bodies have been found across Ekurhuleni.
