R153-million jackpot up for grabs as PowerBall and PowerBall XTRA head to Friday draw
According to The South African, a combined R153 million is available across PowerBall and PowerBall XTRA for the Friday, 12 June 2026 draw. The new operator Sizekhaya’s changes to the game have not stopped prize money from climbing.
What’s on offer
The South African reports that the total prize pool stands at R153 million. That breaks down to R25 million for PowerBall and R128 million for PowerBall XTRA.
Recent draws and rollover context
The South African says Sizekhaya’s first-ever PowerBall draw nearly a fortnight ago produced a winner who took home R130 million. Since then, prize money has continued to climb despite the operator’s promise of fewer rollovers.
Tuesday 9 June 2026 draw numbers
The South African lists the Tuesday draw (9 June 2026) results as follows:
- PowerBall numbers: 05, 08, 12, 19, 48 PowerBall: 01
- PowerBall XTRA numbers: 19, 32, 40, 45, 48 PowerBall: 11
Changes under Sizekhaya
The South African reports several changes to the game since Sizekhaya took over from ITHUBA. The previous operator handed over a baseline of R223 million last month.
Under Sizekhaya, each PowerBall entry costs R10, and adding PowerBall XTRA now costs R5. Game mechanics have also changed: players must pick five numbers from 1 to 50, and the PowerBall number now ranges from 1 to 16 instead of the previous 1 to 20.
How to play and claim winnings
The South African states tickets can be purchased in three ways: physically in-store, digitally through banking apps, or by creating an account with Sizekhaya or using its mobile app. Sales close at 20:30 on the day of a draw.
Players must be 18 years of age to play. To claim winnings legally, winners must provide the winning ticket with the correct serial number, valid proof of ID and a valid South African bank account. Claims must be made within 365 days of the draw date.
Other draws
The South African reports that Sizekhaya’s Lotto and Lotto Plus draw was carrying over from ITHUBA and had R43 million on the line.
