SASSA reviews November grant payment dates after election falls on 4 November

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has said it is reviewing the November 2026 social grant payment schedule because the payment cycle overlaps with the local government election on 4 November 2026.

Why the schedule is under review

SASSA’s previously announced payment calendar for the November cycle placed the Older Persons Grant on 3 November, the Disability Grant on 4 November, the Children’s Grant on 5 November, with an extra payment day on 6 November for beneficiaries whose grants are under review.

Because the Disability Grant date falls on the day of the local government elections, SASSA said it is reassessing arrangements for the November payments.

Consultation and timing

SASSA said it will consult relevant stakeholders before announcing any revised arrangements. No replacement dates had yet been announced.

Assurances to beneficiaries

As reported, SASSA said eligible beneficiaries would still receive their grants and urged them not to panic.

The agency’s comments in related reporting were attributed to its spokesperson, Dr Paseka Letsatsi.
