Joburg EMS has concluded the search for a woman who was swept away by floods in Sunninghill. The unfortunate incident occurred as she was driving on Rivonia Road, near Witkoppen, when her car was swept into a river last week. Despite the diligent efforts of emergency services, they could only locate the woman’s car, as reported by Jacaranda FM.

Joburg EMS spokesperson Xolile Khumalo said they contacted neighbouring municipalities to request vigilance for a missing body. He stated, “After at least five days in water, the body of a drowned person is expected to surface. If it does not surface, it is suspected that the body is immersed in sand or debris. The worst-case scenario could be that the body floated to a nearby river that is outside Johannesburg jurisdiction.”

Regrettably, the search efforts have yielded no results, leading to the involvement of the police for further investigation into the incident.
