There is the threat of a service delivery protest in Lawley, prompting a warning from Johannesburg metro police spokesperson Xolani Fihla. According to Jacaranda FM, motorists should proceed cautiously due to Monday morning protests in Lawley and Ennerdale.
Angered by poor service delivery, residents have taken to the streets, blocking Lawley Road, James Street, and Provincial Road with burning tires. Fihla notes a tense situation and assures the deployment of officers to clear roads for traffic. Expect significant disruptions as routes leaving Lawley and Ennerdale are barricaded.
Additionally, residents of Lawley will march to the Ennerdale Civic Centre to present their demands. Police will monitor the protest and ensuing march closely.
