In a significant development, two suspects were arrested for selling space cookies to the Soshanguve pupils hospitalised after consuming them. Jacaranda FM reports that these individuals, aged 19 and 21, are now facing serious charges of attempted murder. They will appear at the Soshanguve Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
Providing an update on the pupils’ well-being, Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona revealed that 87 affected learners had been discharged from the Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital. Their health has notably improved since the incident. However, the road to recovery is still underway for three female learners under medical care.
This incident has spotlighted the disturbing issue of dangerous substances being sold to students. Investigations into this incident are ongoing.
