William Wayne Dlamini, a high-ranking official from Eswatini, arrived at OR Tambo International Airport from a trip abroad.
The Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) confirmed that Mr Dlamini, who served as the high commissioner of police in Eswatini, experienced a severe health complication upon his entry into South Africa.
First responders at the airport immediately attended to Mr Dlamini. They offered medical assistance, which included CPR, for nearly an hour in an attempt to address his health issue.
Mr Dlamini’s condition did not improve. He was declared deceased in the early morning of October 7.
ACSA’s media manager, Busie Gcali, stated that the relevant authorities were promptly notified and arrived at the scene to handle the incident.
ACSA, however, did not possess detailed information regarding Mr. Dlamini’s medical condition and recommended directing further inquiries to the appropriate authorities.
