As part of their efforts, the Hawks collaborated with the National Intervention Unit, leading to Mzo Ntombela’s (27) arrest in the Umsinga area. This arrest eventually led to the recovery of Captain Ntombela’s firearms at the accused’s homestead in KwaMaphumulo.

Mzo Ntombela was sentenced to 20 years of direct imprisonment for his role in the crime. In a significant development, the 43-year-old woman arrested in connection to the case appeared in the Umlazi Magistrates Court this week.

Maj Gen Lesetja Senona, the provincial head of the KwaZulu-Natal Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the officers involved in making the arrest and moving the investigation forward. This progress offers a sense of justice for the late Captain Ntombela and his family.
