iPhone 15 models are heating up

SAN FRANCISCO, United States – Apple has acknowledged and is actively addressing a “bug” contributing to why some iPhone 15 models are heating up. According to EWN, the tech giant plans to rectify the problem through an upcoming update to its iOS 17 mobile operating software. Apple is also collaborating with developers of certain apps that appear to exacerbate the issue.

Apple confirmed the situation in response to an inquiry by AFP. The company stated, “We have identified a few conditions which can cause the iPhone to run warmer than expected.”

Apple explained that the overheating concern is likely due to heightened background activity, particularly in the initial days following setup. Additionally, technicians identified a bug within iOS 17 as a contributing factor, which a forthcoming software update will address.

The problem extends to third-party applications, some of which seem to strain the iPhone’s hardware, leading to increased temperatures. Apps reported to be causing such issues include Instagram, Uber, and the car racing game Asphalt 9.

Apple reassured users that mild warmth during initial setup or running graphics-intensive apps is usual and should subside as background processes are completed. An Apple support page elaborated: “These conditions are normal, and your device will return to a normal temperature when the process is complete or when you finish your activity.”

The iPhone 15 models, launched on September 22, introduced a notable change by replacing Lightning charger ports with a universal charger following a dispute with the European Union. Apple has tried to address customer concerns by simplifying repair procedures for these models and introducing a new frame design that facilitates easy back glass replacement.

The tech giant’s latest iPhone release comes as it grapples with declining sales and customers delaying upgrades due to higher prices, prompting Apple to focus on innovations in camera technology, chip performance, and device repairability to entice consumers to embrace its new offerings.
