Fire destroys Bedfordview restaurant; no injuries reported

Published

on

A recently opened restaurant at the corner of Kloof and Van Buuren roads in Bedfordview was destroyed by a fire on the evening of June 25, according to The Citizen.

What happened

The Gauteng Provincial Joint Operations Committee reported that the fire broke out at the restaurant on the evening of June 25. Emergency services were on the scene, and four fire engines from Bedfordview and Primrose attended the blaze.

Damage and response

Ward 20 Councillor Jill Humphreys, who was at the scene, said:

“Much loved restaurant gone. Totally burned down. Fortunately no one was hurt.”

She said surrounding properties were not affected. Humphreys praised the Bedfordview Community Policing Forum for isolating the area and making space for the fire engines, and said crews could not connect to the hydrants in the street as the property is set too far back.

Investigation

The cause of the fire has not yet been disclosed.
