The National Consumer Commission has flagged a product recall issued by Jaguar Land Rover South Africa, affecting selected 2020 to 2027 model year Defender, Discovery and Range Rover vehicles sold across the country.

Affected models:

  • Defender models sold between April 2019 and June 2026
  • Discovery units sold from July 2020 to June 2026
  • Range Rover vehicles sold between September 2020 and June 2026

According to the supplier, the connector to the driver’s airbag at the clockspring may develop fretting corrosion over time. This can increase resistance in the airbag circuit, potentially preventing the driver’s airbag from deploying when needed.

Owners of the affected models are urged to visit their nearest Jaguar Land Rover dealership to book an inspection and repair. All remedial work will be carried out free of charge.

Consumers with questions can contact the NCC directly via [email protected].
The recall was issued by the National Consumer Commission on 29 June 2026.
