Another delay in DJ Warras murder case as co-accused not brought to court

The High Court in Johannesburg again postponed proceedings in the murder case linked to Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock after one of the accused was not brought to court and the prosecution flagged outstanding issues with the docket.

Who, what and where

Stock was fatally shot on 16 December outside a building near the Carlton Centre in Johannesburg’s central business district. The two men charged in connection with his killing are Armindo Joaquim Pacula and Victor Mthethwa Majola.

Court appearance and absence

Majola, who was arrested on 22 December and denied bail by the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on 26 January 2026, did not appear in court for the latest hearing. The state prosecutor told the court that Majola was not brought from prison and that there was an issue with his J7, noting it indicated he was scheduled to be in court on Monday, 27 July 2026.

The prosecution said officials had confirmed Majola would be brought to court on Monday so the pretrial could be held then.

Docket concerns and next steps

The prosecution also raised issues relating to docket content. The prosecution said a meeting to resolve the outstanding docket issues has been scheduled for next Wednesday. The judge recorded that a meeting was to be held next Wednesday between state counsel and counsel for accused number two to try to resolve the docket matter.

The matter was postponed to Monday, 27 July 2026, for a further two weeks, subject to any submissions that accused number two may make, to allow time to deal with funding of his private counsel so they can be fully instructed.

Background on the accused

Majola was arrested on 22 December and faces a schedule 6 offence of premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Pacula, arrested on 30 January at the Marathon informal settlement in Primrose, Germiston, faces charges of premeditated murder, conspiracy to commit murder and contravening the Immigration Act.

In February, Pacula abandoned his bail application and later applied for legal aid; at the latest hearing he was represented by legal aid and remains in custody, as does Majola.
