Madlanga testimony by Fadiel Adams unlikely to start after affidavit arrives late

Evidence leaders at the Madlanga Commission are expected to seek a postponement after receiving National Coloured Congress (NCC) leader and MP Fadiel Adams’s sworn affidavit and supporting documents only hours before his scheduled appearance, according to IOL.

Adams was due to appear under subpoena at 9.30am on Tuesday, but the commission’s evidence leaders are likely to request more time to consult on the material they received late on Monday, IOL reports.

The evidence leaders only received Adams’s affidavit and related annexures after 9pm on Monday, according to the Commission, which prompted the expected move to delay his testimony so the documents can be considered.

Why his testimony drew attention

Adams’s appearance has drawn wide public interest. According to IOL, questions were expected about his alleged access to Westville Prison, his possession of Crime Intelligence information, claims of secret “slush funds” and his dealings with police investigators.
