Woman Loses R2 Million to Online Lover – The Badoo Swindler

a man scammed a woman out of more than R2 million in North West

A 54-year-old woman from Mahikeng is reeling after a man scammed her out of more than R2 million. According to newsnote, she met him on the online dating platform Badoo.

The Hawks in the province are searching for the man they have identified as a person of interest in the case.

The woman and the man, who used a false name, previously dated. He suggested they start a joint venture to begin a business during this time. The woman resigned and cashed out her pension to contribute to the undertaking. Still, the man allegedly stole the money and disappeared.

The police believe this occurred between May and August of 2022. The case is currently under investigation. The Hawks have requested that anyone with information about the man’s whereabouts contact Colonel Mornè Grobler on 082 334 8667.
