Forest Hill murder case

The Forest Hill murder case, involving accused Kleave van Staden, experienced another setback as Magistrate Habib postponed proceedings to September 15 to establish new trial dates. The latest delay occurred when the defence attorney, Ms. Munyai, was conspicuously absent from Booysens Magistrate’s Court on September 7.

Initially scheduled for September 6 and 7, the trial began with testimonies from two minors and a paramedic on the first day. However, on the second day, when three police officers were to provide their testimony, Munyai failed to appear in court. Despite efforts to contact her, she remained unreachable.

Expressing his frustration, Magistrate Habib reluctantly postponed the case, emphasising the legal system’s challenges. The trial centres on accusations against Kleave van Staden for the murder of his wife, Jamillah, on January 8 the previous year in Forest Hill. The case’s future progression awaits the rescheduling of trial dates, now slated for September 15.
