Malema: Young people who wear ANC T‑shirts are ‘bewitched’, should be ashamed, he says
Sharp rebuke at Youth Day rally
Speaking at the EFF’s Youth Day rally in Pretoria, Malema mocked young ANC supporters and said they had lost their political direction. According to The South African, he urged shame on young people who still wore ANC regalia and suggested they needed spiritual intervention.
“You must be so ashamed when you are young and still wear an ANC t-shirt. We should take you to Moria and have them pray for you because clearly these people have bewitched you,” The South African quoted Malema as saying.
Language and warnings
According to The South African, Malema said there was no sane young person who would wear an ANC T‑shirt and urged pity for those he saw wearing them, adding that they might have forgotten to take their medication or not noticed they were in the wrong T‑shirt.
“There is no sane young person who will wear an ANC t-shirt. When you see a young person with an ANC t-shirt, have pity on them. They probably forgot to take their medication, they probably did not notice that they are in the wrong t-shirt,” According to The South African reported.
Claim on ANC credibility and EFF appeal
According to The South African, Malema said the ANC had lost credibility among young people and that many now viewed association with the party as embarrassing. He contrasted that with the EFF, which he said offers hope to young South Africans and represents their future.
“Every young person in South Africa belongs to the EFF including those who are wearing ANC t-shirts. They belong to the EFF. We are going to take them from the ANC and show them the direction, they are lost,” According to The South African quoted Malema as saying.
Call to action
At the rally, Malema welcomed the turnout and urged supporters to register to vote in the upcoming local government elections and help the EFF secure municipal seats, according to The South African.
