One killed after minibus taxi rolls on N2 near Hibberdene

A minibus taxi rolled on the N2 near the Hibberdene southbound on-ramp in KZN on Monday; one person died and multiple passengers were injured, emergency services say.

One person was killed and several others injured after a minibus taxi rolled over on the N2 near the Hibberdene southbound on-ramp in KwaZulu-Natal on Monday morning. Med-Evac Ambulance Service and other emergency and rescue services responded to the scene, where responders found a severely damaged vehicle and multiple occupants needing assessment and treatment.

What responders found

On arrival, emergency personnel discovered a badly damaged minibus taxi and numerous people requiring medical attention. According to reports cited by Arrive Alive, several occupants were reportedly ejected from the vehicle during the rollover.

Casualties and care

One person sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased. Several patients sustained serious injuries, while others suffered minor injuries or were uninjured. Emergency teams stabilised patients at the scene before transporting them to various medical facilities for further treatment.

Investigation and traffic

The cause of the accident is under investigation. Motorists were urged to approach the area with caution and to expect delays.

“Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the person who lost their life, as well as all those affected by this incident.”

“We wish the injured patients strength in their recovery,” Med-Evac said.
