Soweto K9 unit seizes large consignment of cough syrups after Zola 3 raid

Police in Soweto recovered a large consignment of prescription cough syrups and tablets during a raid at a residential property in Zola 3. The operation was carried out by members attached to the Soweto K9 Unit after a tip-off about alleged illicit drug-dealing at the premises.

Raid, suspect fled and items seized

According to police, officers arrived at the property following information received about suspected drug-dealing. “Upon arrival, the suspect reportedly released vicious dogs and fled the scene,” police said. Officers then gained access to the premises and conducted a search.

“Police members subsequently gained access to the premises and conducted a search. During the operation, various medicines suspected to have been intended for illegal distribution were found abandoned and seized,” police said.

Items recovered included boxes and bottles of Stillpain syrup, Painagon syrup, Astrapain syrup, Broncleer syrup, Phenorant syrup, as well as containers of Mylan tablets, the police said.

No arrests yet; investigation ongoing

Police confirmed no arrests have been made following the raid. “No arrests have been made at this stage. Police are searching for the suspect, and investigations are continuing,” they said.
