Three held after alleged overnight attack and robbery at Cullinan farm

Three suspects have been arrested after an alleged overnight attack on a farm on the outskirts of Cullinan, an operation that followed intelligence received about a planned targeting of a property.

Intelligence-led operation leads to arrests

According to The Citizen (Rekord), an intelligence-led operation by private security company Echo-1 resulted in the arrest of three suspects after officers received information about a criminal group allegedly planning to target a property in Cullinan.

The Citizen (Rekord) reports that a vehicle believed to have been used by the suspects was identified entering the area on Friday evening to drop off the alleged attackers, and that the vehicle allegedly returned in the early hours to collect the suspects.

Responding officers kept the vehicle under surveillance and later intercepted it in Welbekend in the far east of Pretoria, where the three suspects were arrested and found in possession of property believed to have been stolen, The Citizen (Rekord) said.

Victim found bound and seriously injured

The Citizen (Rekord) states that an investigation of recovered items and information led officers to a farmhouse on the outskirts of Cullinan, where they discovered the homeowner tied up on his bed and suffering from severe injuries.

The Citizen (Rekord) reports the victim had allegedly been beaten, stabbed and tortured for several hours, and that emergency medical services treated him at the scene before he was transported for further medical care.

House ransacked and vehicle stolen

According to The Citizen (Rekord), the attackers allegedly ransacked the farmhouse and stole the victim’s bakkie before fleeing the scene.

Investigation and custody

The Citizen (Rekord) reports that the three suspects remain in police custody while investigations continue.

The Citizen (Rekord) also said that Echo-1 will continue to monitor the case and work alongside law enforcement authorities as the investigation progresses.
