Community in Shock After Double Stabbing in KwaNonqaba, One Man Arrested

The community of KwaNonqaba in Mossel Bay is reeling after a violent incident on Saturday morning left two people dead and a suspect in hospital under police guard.

According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies, the tragedy began to unfold at approximately 09:40 when police were alerted by community members about a man seen with a knife leaving a premises on Bantom Street.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of a 43-year-old man. Paramedics at the scene declared him dead.

In a swift and tragic turn, police then responded to a second scene nearby where they found a 46-year-old woman with fatal stab wounds to her neck and arm. She was also declared dead by paramedics.

The suspect was located in the same vicinity, suffering from stab wounds to his chest that are believed to be self-inflicted. He was immediately arrested in connection with both killings.

The motive for the brutal attacks is still unknown and remains the subject of an active police investigation. The suspect, who has not been named, is currently receiving medical treatment under police guard and will be formally charged and appear in court once he is discharged.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the quiet community, leaving residents to grapple with the senseless loss of two lives in a single morning.
