Sizekhaya confirms winners can now claim lotto tickets bought before 1 June
Sizekhaya Holdings has completed a verification process of historic prize records and players holding winning National Lottery or Sports Pools tickets purchased before 1 June 2026 can now submit claims for payment, the company confirmed.
Why older claims were delayed
When Sizekhaya took over operation of the National Lottery it inherited historical prize administration data from the previous operator. The company said it needed to verify and reconcile those records before paying out older prizes to ensure accuracy and correct recipients.
What winners should do
Players with winning Lotto and PowerBall tickets bought before 1 June 2026 can now follow the normal National Lottery claims process to submit their claims and receive prize payments if their claims are validated.
Extra checks for some tickets
Sizekhaya said a small number of tickets may require additional verification before payment is approved. Players whose tickets cannot be immediately validated are advised to contact the National Lottery Call Centre on 086 102 6000.
Regulatory and operator statements
The National Lotteries Commission commissioner Jodi Scholtz welcomed the completion of the verification process, saying it provides certainty for players and enables legitimate claims to be processed according to regulatory requirements.
Sizekhaya’s chief operating officer, Fundi Sithebe, said completing the verification marked an important milestone in the operator handover and in ensuring that players are not disadvantaged during the transition.
What this means
The verification clearance allows prize claims and payments linked to tickets bought before the operator transition to move forward through established verification procedures.
