Woman found dead at Greylands home after reported domestic dispute; husband missing
A woman was found dead in a Greylands bedroom after neighbours reported a violent argument the night before. Reaction Unit South Africa says the husband is missing.
A woman was discovered dead in her Greylands home after neighbours reported a violent argument the night before, and her husband could not be located, Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) said.
Wellness check leads to body discovery
Rusa said the woman was found dead at her residence in Greylands on Monday, a day after an alleged domestic dispute at the property. The organisation reported that the property owner’s father, concerned after not seeing the woman that morning, entered the home with another tenant and found her lying motionless on a bed in a bedroom.
Reaction officers were called out after the property owner asked for help once the woman’s body was found, Rusa said.
Argument reported the previous evening
Information gathered at the scene indicated that the woman and her husband had argued and physically fought the previous evening. Rusa said this was not an isolated occurrence:
“Similar incidents had occurred previously, and the couple regularly consumed alcohol,”
Following the discovery of the body, Rusa said the husband could not be located.
Injuries observed; cause of death not yet determined
Paramedics were called to the scene. Rusa said that paramedics from the organisation observed slight bruising to her face and the right side of her chest. An open bottle of tablets was also found in the bedroom. Rusa confirmed that the exact cause of death had not yet been determined.
Investigation under way
Rusa said the matter was handed over to local authorities and that Tongaat SAPS in KZN are investigating further.
