Eskom has scheduled a 13-hour planned power interruption on Thursday, 13 August, to allow technical teams to carry out essential maintenance on distribution lines serving parts of the Cullinan area and surrounding communities.

Who will be affected and when

The utility confirmed the interruption will affect customers on these 22kV distribution lines and pole codes:

  • Bigtree Moloto1 22kV customers with pole code BMM
  • Moloto 2 22kV customers with pole code 2BTM
  • Sybrandskraal 22kV line customers with pole code BSK

The outage is scheduled from 07:00 to 20:00 on Thursday, 13 August, a period Eskom describes as a full 13 hours without electricity for the affected customers.

Why the work is necessary and safety advice

Eskom said the interruption is necessary to allow technical teams to perform essential maintenance on the distribution network. The utility urged residents to remain cautious during the outage and to treat all electrical appliances as live at all times, warning that power could be restored without prior notice once maintenance work is complete.

Eskom also included a disclaimer that circumstances beyond its control could affect the maintenance schedule, and that unforeseen issues might change the planned restoration time. The utility apologised in advance for any inconvenience the outage may cause.

Eskom listed several channels customers can use during the interruption:

  • Download the MyEskom Customer self-help app.
  • WhatsApp enquiries to 0860 037 566.
  • Use the USSD code *120*37566# for updates.
