Viewer discretion is advised for footage circulating online after a Learjet 60 plunged into a residential area of Palm Beach County, Florida, on Sunday, 1 November, killing all nine people aboard, Joburg Etc reports.

The aircraft crashed near Military Trail, between Cresthaven Boulevard and 10th Avenue North, at approximately 12:50 local time.

Viewer discretion is advised:

According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the aircraft departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and was heading towards North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas. The US Transportation Secretary, Sean Duffy, subsequently confirmed that all nine occupants had died.

Audio recordings of communications with air traffic control, reveal that the pilot had reported icing, turbulence and precipitation before the aircraft experienced a rapid descent and an emergency was declared.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the incident prompted road closures, with motorists urged to avoid the affected stretch.

Approximately 600 residents from a nearby mobile-home community were also evacuated as emergency services responded. Videos shared on X and Instagram have drawn attention to the aircraft’s final moments and the aftermath.

An X user claiming to have thousands of hours of Learjet flying experience suggested that the extreme speed of impact could explain why no recognisable aircraft structure was visible in some footage. The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the crash. Its cause has not yet been determined.
