DJ Admiral and Jah Seed to Reunite for ‘Intimate Evening Series’ Concerts

South African reggae and dancehall icon DJ Admiral, real name Andy Kasrils, is set to take the stage alongside longtime collaborator Jah Seed as part of the highly anticipated two-city concert series, ‘Intimate Evening Series’. The series, organized in partnership with Liberty, Griza Enterprises, and Showtime Management, will bring together legendary local and international artists for a celebration of music and nostalgia.
For fans of DJ Admiral and Jah Seed, this marks a rare opportunity to see the duo perform together. Admiral, who has shifted much of his focus to film production, expressed excitement about performing alongside his partner, as Jah Seed is often busy with performances as part of Bongo Maffin.
“We rarely get the chance to perform together these days due to our commitments,” Admiral shared. “So when Greg Maloka reached out for this event, we didn’t hesitate. It’s an honor to be part of such a meaningful series.”
Admiral also reflected on the full-circle moment of performing alongside Soul II Soul’s founder, Jazzie B, a group he admired during his time in London.
“I grew up a huge fan of Soul II Soul. To now perform with them here in South Africa is something I could never have imagined. It’s truly special.”
The ‘Intimate Evening Series’ promises unforgettable performances from a stellar line-up. Grammy Award-winning British band Soul II Soul will headline the concerts, delivering iconic hits like “Back to Life” (However Do You Want Me) and “Keep on Movin’.” Joining them on stage will be South African music legends:
- TKZee, the kwaito group that defined a generation,
- DJ Christos, a master of house and kwaito beats,
- And, of course, DJ Admiral and Jah Seed.
The series kicks off on February 1 at Montecasino in Johannesburg and concludes on February 8 at the Kirstenbosch Gardens in Cape Town.
Concert organizer Greg Maloka emphasized the event’s theme of creating meaningful, nostalgia-filled experiences.
“Soul II Soul came at the height of a youth culture in the 90s, a pivotal time for shared histories between South Africa and Britain. This series is about revisiting those soundtracks that shaped our lives,” Maloka said.
Liberty’s Marees Bostander highlighted the brand’s commitment to connecting people through meaningful events.
“This is about celebrating who we are and reconnecting with the moments that matter. With TKZee, Admiral, Jah Seed, and Soul II Soul on one stage, this series sets the tone for the year,” she said.
The ‘Intimate Evening Series’ will blend R&B, soul, funk, kwaito, house, and reggae, creating a night of rhythmic nostalgia. For matured music lovers, it’s a chance to relive their youth and connect through music that defined an era.
Tickets are available now, promising two nights of unparalleled entertainment that celebrates the best of South African and British musical heritage.
