Tyla landed in Johannesburg

Tyla landed in Johannesburg on Saturday, the 30th of April. South Africa’s critically acclaimed Grammy winner, Tyla Seethal’s homecoming was spectacular. She was treated like a rock star when she alighted from her DHL aircraft at OR Tambo International Airport.

The only thing more impressive than Tyla being amidst the fans, friends, and family just to welcome her home was receiving a captivatingly beautiful image of her donning a South African-themed dress and a much-cherished award to demonstrate her national pride.

Amidst the bustling atmosphere of OR Tambo’s international arrivals terminal, Tyla visibly moved, graciously posed for photos with her supporters and engaged with the media, expressing her deep-seated relief and joy at returning home after her recent triumph.

While arriving, Tyla shared a moment with SA’s Minister of Sports, Arts, and Culture, Zizi Kodwa, captured in a now-viral video with over 4.7 million views.

In the video, Tyla and Kodwa are seen in a photo-op. Tyla, her Grammy held tightly, engages in a significant exchange about the award. The moment culminates in Tyla proudly raising her Grammy when the minister reaches for it.

Taking to social media platform X, with heartfelt gratitude, Tyla thanked her fans for their warm welcome and briefly addressed the viral moment with Kodwa, explaining, “The minister told me to raise my award higher and I did!!”

According to a quote published by News24, Tyla’s mother, Sharleen, expressed immense pride in her 22-year-old daughter’s Grammy win, praising her accomplishments and her dedication to her craft.

“There was never a doubt in terms of what she wanted. Tyla has always been an overachiever,” added Tyla’s father.

Adding to her recent achievements, Tyla released her highly anticipated debut album, “Tyla,” in March and was honoured with another accolade from the SA Style Awards for Most Stylish Performing Artist in Music, accepted on her behalf by her sister, Sydney.
