The DA has laid criminal charges against Deputy President Paul Mashatile for corruption allegations spanning decades. Accusations include nepotism and a R28.9 million mansion bought by Mashatile’s son-in-law. They also filed a complaint with parliament, alleging breaches of conduct. Despite urging action from President Cyril Ramaphosa during the 2024 SONA, the DA criticised his inaction. Evidence was submitted for a SIU probe.

The DA claims these allegations expose widespread ANC corruption. They criticise Ramaphosa for not fulfilling promises of cabinet audits. With elections nearing, the DA stresses the need to address ANC corruption. They demand accountability for Mashatile’s alleged corruption. Despite Ramaphosa’s indifference, the DA promises to restore governance integrity.
