According to Constable Ntando Ngomane, the spokesperson for the Daveyton SAPS, an employee on duty when the incident heard explosions and went to check, only to discover that the ATM had been blown up. The robbers had already fled the scene by the time the police arrived as reported by Benoni City Times.

The incident has been classified as both a business robbery and an ATM bombing, and a case has been opened at the Daveyton SAPS for further investigation. The police are currently searching for the suspects and asking the public for any information to assist in the investigation.

The police believe that the robbers took advantage of load-shedding to carry out the attack, as they pounced on unsuspecting petrol attendants and shop employees during the power outage. According to the police, the suspects were armed and dangerous.

The Daveyton SAPS is urging anyone with information about the incident or the suspects’ whereabouts to come forward and provide any information that can assist in the investigation.
